An idiom is also called idiomatic expression. An idiom is an expression, word, or phrase. An idiom has a different meaning from what is in the dictionary. An idiom does not mean exactly what the dictionary states.

An idiom: join the club
'Join the club' is said in reply to an individual. It means they are in the same situation.

Here is another idiom:
'name the day' means to state the exact date of an important event. 'name the day' is especially used when talking about marriage.
1. Helen and Paul are going to name the day soon.
2.
Paul: Hi! Helen and I are getting married soon. John: Great! When will you name the day? Paul: We will name the day soon! John: Brilliant!

Hi there! I know the idiom: "When pigs will fly". It means - never. So you can use it while taking about events that will never happen.
